WATER WALLS
January 10 – January 31
Seventeen artists have been selected to complete two murals for the Crystal Pool in Victoria. Each mural is 8 x 48′. The Slide Room Gallery will be used as an art studio where the artists will work on the panels over the month of January. The public is welcome to see the work as it develops through the month.
PICTURE THIS
February 11 – February 25, 2011
This is an interactive drawing and collage event based on the book by Lynda Barry called Picture This: Near-sighted Monkey Book. Barry’s book questions ideas surrounding drawing including when did we decide to stop drawing. Gallery visitors will be invited to participate in the opening ‘Drawing and Collage Party’ on Friday, February 11 where the walls of the gallery will be covered in paper and various collage materials will be provided. Throughout the following two weeks, visitors are invited to respond to what is on the wall or to create drawings and collages of their own. This event will launch the ‘Slide Room CafĂ©’ -a monthly forum for discussion, debate and general sharing of ideas, gossip and humour.
